Farmer Nate

We have had a great summer up in Eastern Washington with Michelle's family while we wait for Nate's job to start up at the end of August. Dairy work has been Nate's summer occupation. He has done a little of everything on the dairy, from disking the fields to de-horning calves. It has been an eye-opening experience for him but he has had a lot of fun.

He did get a to do a little construction work which he is more accustomed to.

Here is Michelle's younger brother Patrick finishing the concrete slab they poured.

Nate was able to operate some heavy equipment.

The Hadleys plant cow corn on over 500 acres and Nate got to spend his first two weeks in Connell up in the tractor disking the soil so it would be ready to plant. This is some of the fruits of his labor.

This is the tractor that Nate got to know very well over those first two weeks.

Had to throw in a picture with the cows.

This is where the money is made.

Nate was recruited to round up beef cattle in the hills. He didn't quite realize what he was getting himself into. For a guy who's ridden a horse about 4 times in his life he was pretty happy just to have stayed on the horse the whole day. This is some of the terrain he was out riding on. The pictures don't quite do it justice.

For Nate's birthday Michelle and her parents treated him to a festive Mexican dinner with a sombrero and all.

  1. Evan was very excited to see pictures of Uncle Nate with all the tractors and diggers. Very impressive. I love the T-shirt : )
