Birthday + Family = Fun, cont...

My birthday is on June 9th and I was also lucky enough to have family around on my birthday as well. My sister came into town a whole week before my birthday. It was a surprise and I was so happy to see her!! She came in on a Monday and my brother, Richard and cousin, Elizabeth, came into town the following Friday. It was so great to have them all out here. We did lots of fun stuff. I'll just put pictures in and explain them all. Actually, looking at the pictures I took, I noticed I didn't take many of everyone. Oops.

Oh, so the free birthday treat they give you is about a spoonful of ice cream and a cup of whipped cream...it was nice, but interesting. Thank you for celebrating my birthday with me. On the day of my birthday, Nate took the day off of work (Well, actually, he just worked 4 10-hour days that week. Love you, babe, thanks!!) That morning we kayaked on the Potomac for a few hours. That afternoon, we went to Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian at the IMax theater in the Museum of Natural History Smithsonian. Love the movie. It is really really funny. That evening we went over to Ryan and Meghan's for dinner...it was very very good. We watched my favorite comedian, Bryan Regan. It was a perfect day! Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes and all that.

Well, I have many more pictures...but they are mainly of Nate and me. So, I will spare you because you will be seeing lots of us in the future.

Birthday + Family = Fun

These past few months have been a blast out here in D.C. There are so many highlights of our time here already (way too many to post right now). I want to focus this post on two...Nathan's birthday and my birthday.
Nathan's birthday is on May 22nd. He had a great birthday present this year. His parents were with him on his birthday for the first time in...I think he said 5 years (since before the mission). His parents arrived 8a.m. on Friday, May 22nd. They took us out to breakfast and then we went out to the Air and Space Smithsonian where all the planes are kept. After that, we all crashed for a few hours and that night we went to X-Men: The Origins...Nate loves Wolverine (sorry Nate, had to tell them).
The next day, Nate's sister and nephew, Becca and Evan, came into town. We had a great time with family in town over Memorial Day weekend and day. We say the monuments, the Museum of Natural History, and ate lots of good food. Thank you so much for the fun weekend Demarys and Mosers!!

Introducing...The Demarys

Who knew anything good could come of Professor Kerl's Econ 110 class. Nathan and I met in the back of an auditorium full of 800 students in our class. We both started sitting by and studying with a mutual friend and soon got to know each other through the study sessions that lasted hours. I found him very attractive and knew I needed to get to know him soon before the other 15 thousand women on the BYU campus found him. I started throwing, what I thought were obvious, hints that I was interested in him. After a few months of getting to know each other and studying Econ, Nathan asked me out. We had a great first date and the rest is history. We saw each other every day after our first date and started dating exclusively for a week after our first date. We dated for about a year (Nate was gone from mid-June to the end of August for a construction internship), and then got engaged September 2008. We were married November 25th, 2008 in the Manti Temple. It was a beautiful day and everyone in our families were able to be there. It was an amazing day.
We finished the semester and then went to Los Cabos, Mexico for our honeymoon for a week. My wonderful aunt Teresa had a timeshare she let us use. It was amazing. We loved it!! Here are a few pictures.

Nate and I with the famous arch. We were on a submarine boat type thing. The bottom of the boat went under the water about 10 feet and there were windows around the whole thing. When were were close to the coral, we went down to the bottom and looked at all the fish and seals underwater. It was really cool.Another adventure we went on was an all day snorkeling tour. It was a lot of fun.

While everyone else was enjoying 2 for 1 Happy Hour...Nate and I were enjoying some intense games of Phase 10. (Yes, I know I have a shirt on on the beach in Mexico, but I have a hard time exposing my skin to the sun. You see, I tend to turn out more red than golden brown so I cover up after so long.)

Our resort had a fiesta and Nate and i got called up to do a dance with the performers.

All the food in the resort was really expensive. So we went to Sam's Club, I think, and bought chips, peanut butter, jelly, bread, and oranges. We lived off this food pretty much the whole week. We also had cereal, milk, and crackers. We went out to eat a few time, but not often. Here is a picture of the best meal I have ever had. So so good.



We had so much fun on our honeymoon and would love to go back someday. Anyway, I realized I didn't post any wedding pictures, but this post is already too long, so I'll save them for another day.

Summer in D.C.

This summer, Nathan is interning with Clark Construction in Arlington, VA. We live about a mile from his job site and about 4 miles from the Capital Building and downtown D.C. We have been in VA for about 5 weeks now and are loving it. Well, we aren't loving the humidity that much but it hasn't been too bad...yet. Nathan is from Massachusetts, so we are living pretty much in his back yard. Here are pictures of the trip out here. Pictures of what we have done in D.C. will come later.




We drove across the country in Dennis (the name of our beautiful car). He did very well considering his back bumper was almost dragging on the ground. The drive was a total of 35 hours i think, and we made the journey in 3 days. It was painful, but surprisingly fun. We stopped by Independence, MO church visiting center, and Liberty Jail.
